The loudest cheers were heard when the winner of the Top Youth Club was announced. After having been awarded the Most Improved Youth Club and the 1st Runner-Up in the Youth Club category in PAYM Awards 2008, the Nee Soon East CC YEC outdid themselves by clinching the top spot for the Youth Club Awards this year.

The Nee Soon East CC YEC was also one of the Youth Clubs which bagged the most number of awards by winning the Newcomer and Individual Award.

The most prestigious award of the night, the PAYM Excellent Youth Award, was presented to Ms Lina Chong for her exemplarily contribution in the promotion of youth development.  “It’s a privilege to me!  I hope to see more youths stepping forward to be a volunteer with the PAYM and to serve the community, exclaimed Ms Chong.

The event was also a platform to install the members of the PAYM 18th CYC.  The 27 members of the PAYM CYC will serve for a 2-year term and continue to extend the PAYM’s outreach and promote active youth citizenry through various avenues such as community service projects, sports activities, forums and strategic partnerships.

The evening function also featured performances put up by several interest groups of the CC YECs, including a dance showcase choreographed by Mr Terrence Yang, Chairman of the Pasir Ris Elias CC YEC hip hop dance interest group. The dance kicked off the night of celebrations and surprises all guests with the 350 member contingent dancing to the energetic tunes of “That Thing You Do” and “Baby” by Justin Bieber.  A special musical segment also featured the newly installed CYC members performing with the Arteen Furteens, an arts and culture interest group from The Jelutung CC YEC.  The night concluded with melodious tunes performed by the award winning Sembawang Wind Orchestra, an interest group from the Sembawang CC YEC.

It was indeed a night of fun and cheers as members of the 99 CC YECs came together to celebrate the achievements of their peers.  The awards ceremony not only served as a form of encouragement but also a source of motivation to our youth leaders who have contributed significantly to the community.

Keep up the fantastic work and see you at the PAYM Awards 2012!
