People’s Association Youth Movement (PAYM) has singled out 11 volunteers and 11 youth groups out of its 1,700 youth volunteers and 101 youth groups respectively for their dedication and efforts towards community work.  These volunteers were honoured at the PAYM Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 27 May 2006 at the Suntec City Convention Hall 601.  The Guest-of-Honour was Mr Teo Chee Hean, Minister for Defence.

Three categories of Awards were given out to outstanding youth groups, individuals and special projects. In conjunction with this event, the new term for the PAYM Central Youth Council (CYC) was also officially installed.  The CYC charts the strategic direction of the PAYM and comprises elected Chairpersons of the Youth Executive Committees (YECs) from the five Community Development Council Districts.

Other highlights included the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the 18 schools that were onboard the PAYM Service-Learning Club initiative and the launch of the PAYM 35th Anniversary Logo by the Guest-of-Honour.

To all the winners, we salute and applaud your contributions.  Keep up the good work! To the rest of the volunteers who have passionately invested your time to serving the community, all of you are winners in your own right!
